RISK AND REWARD
RISK AND REWARD
After a year of sailing around French Polynesia, pulling the boat out for repairs, and then sailing up to and around the Hawaiian Islands, it was time to replenish the treasure chest. So we decided to stay in Honolulu and find work.
We lived on our boat in Ala Wai Yacht Harbor. Each day we would take a shower on the dock, catch The Bus to work then return "home" to jump off our boat and paddle out to some of the best surf in the world.
We often took The Bus to the North Shore to watch famous surfers compete at Waimea and Pipeline. During the summer months, these famous surf breaks were a calm flow of ocean lapping on the white sand of the North Shore. While photographing in these gentle wakes I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life making a living on and in the ocean.
